HH Design
The Backstory
How did HH Design begin?
HH Design is a lifetime vision and goal of mine. I have grown up watching my “nana” decorate our home, our relatives homes, apartment complexes and office spaces for a living. I have always felt inspired by her work, and inspired by the art of interior design and space planning.
Throughout my 4 years of college, I have studied marketing and entrepreneurship. My background and knowledge for business has lead me down a path to a more business side of the interior decorating industry. HH Design’s primary focus, and my primary focus as a designer, is on the commercial real-estate development industry. Because of that information, I am operating my company under that field because of the constant need for my service.
The commercial real-estate development industry is very large and there are continuous additions. Hospitals, apartment complexes, and office buildings are under constant construction and development. With those developments, comes a need for design and space planning.
Originally, the idea seemed far-fetched and unrealistic. However, throughout my entrepreneurship courses at the University of Tennessee, I have the opportunity to test my venture. In addition, I’ve been able to develop realistic business proposals and mock websites. These projects have taught me best practices for running a business, and they truly make my vision into a reality.
HH Design is based in Los Angeles, CA. I am an Orange County native. My family is heavily involved in development of industrial office spaces and apartment complexes.
Who is HH Design?
Bradley says, ” Good interior design evokes happiness and soothes the soul. It can inspire confidence, empathy, pride, creativity, security and energy. Creating a meaningful space that fulfills the needs of the inhabitant and optimizes their space is one of our key roles as designers and is essential to our society” (houzz.com).
HH Design is a full-service interior decorating business that provides those things says by Bradley for it’s clients. The company addresses customer’s needs to bring a home to life, use space meaningfully, bring comfort to an area and strategically choose colors, patterns and styles based on how they affect mood and evoke feelings – in the respective setting. HH Design is full of passion. It is a company that dedicates time, energy and passion into research and development, and the designer redefines standards regularly.
How does HH Design do this?
HH Design uses the logistics of psychology behind colors, layouts, and patterns to improve the energy and mood of a space, allowing creative ideas to flow in an office, family laughs to be shared in a living room, romantic time away from home to be spent at a hotel, and comfort in an apartment. Four things that HH Design does to fulfill this have to do with the psychology of colors, supply chain relationships, staying up to date on trends and having constant marketing campaigns. These tasks help to form meaningful relationships with clients, and to deliver the best match is the name of HH Design’s game.
Where does HH Design make their money?
Specifically, the company focuses primarily on a key revenue driver which is commercial buildings, specifically apartment complexes. Clients pay for the design skills and the value of time put into a project by a per square foot price. In addition, HH Design provides the eye of a designer to friends, family, and to close friends in their own residential needs. Whether that be revamping their kitchen or styling an entirely new home. HH design operates on an hourly pay basis when working on start to finish residential projects. However, the pricing model is dynamic and set on a real-time market that constantly changes. The mark-up on products reflect retail prices. The items like furniture, rugs, flooring, lights, etc.are bought by the designer at wholesale price and sell for approximately 50% more.
The venture takes the form of an LLC, a limited liability company. An LLC allows HH Design to operate as a hybrid company with qualities of both a corporation and a partnership. This gives the owner limited liability in case the business’ feet fall out from underneath itself. The owner is not personally liable for debt. So, the owner and investor’s personal assets are untouched, and this is even in the case of bankruptcy. The owner is able to report profits and losses on their personal tax returns, and by operating as an LLC, the venture has more startup funds.

The story of HH Design and how the company came to be is simple. A young girl, obsessed with YouTube home decorating videos and Pinterest vision boards, turning her dreams to life. With the help and motivation of my family members, teachers and peers, an added layer of confidence comes upon me.
